Dvořák produced his New World Symphony, Verdi created his opera Falstaff, and Tchaikovsky wrote his Symphony No. 6 "Pathétique". In the realm of chamber music, masterpieces and new forms of composition were being written that would forge new pathways for the future. The concert begins with the stunning Six Romances Sans Paroles by Cécile Chaminade. In 1913, she was the first female composer to be awarded the Legion of Honor.
